Frequently Asked Questions
We have tried to answer general queries but unless you are experienced with caravans and holiday parks you will probably have lots of questions. Please feel free to contact us for further information and advice. We also have an access statement.
Do you have tents, touring caravans and holiday lets?
We are an owners only park with no provision for tents, tourers or hire fleet.
What holiday home should I purchase?
We have a wealth of experience at Cosways and will advise you on the caravans offered by the major manufacturers. We usually also have a supply of second user caravans for sale to suit personal budgets.
When can I visit my caravan?
The park licence issued by the local authority insists we have a closed period, as holiday parks cannot cater for residential use. Our current licence allows Cosways to offer owners park opening for up to ten months of the year from March until December.
How large is the Park?
Cosways is a small to medium size holiday home park currently with just over 150 plots
set in 22 acres of mature, landscaped grounds gently sloping to the
waterfront. The Quality in Tourism assessor commented, each year the owners
work hard to maintain its standards by investing in the Park
.
Are pets allowed?
Yes. Several owners bring their dogs and we provide a large grass field ("the dog walkers field") for dogs to exercise in.
May I park at my caravan?
For most of the open season one vehicle may be parked near to your caravan. All other vehicles (owners and visitors) may use our large car park. In early and late season, if there is a period of very inclement weather, all vehicles may have to be parked on the car park.
Does the island have all necessary amenities?
On site staff are usually available for any emergency. The nearest A&E hospital is located at Colchester (12 miles from Mersea Island). There is a doctors and dental surgery in West Mersea together with chemist, post office, garage, pubs, restaurants and individual shops. There are bus and taxi services on the Island.
